People using the Brighton-Le-Sands foreshore and Botany Bay will see an increased police presence this summer as NSW Police begins a four-month operation targeting dangerous behaviour on land and water.
Operation Summer Foreshore will run from Saturday 3 October 2026 until Sunday 31 January 2027. The operation covers the Grand Parade, the Brighton-Le-Sands foreshore, surrounding roads and public parks, as well as the waters of Botany Bay.
Officers will focus on dangerous jet ski use, traffic offences and antisocial behaviour. St George Police Area Command will lead the operation with support from Marine Area Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and the Central Metropolitan Region High-Visibility Policing Unit.
Police carried out a preliminary high-visibility operation in Brighton-Le-Sands on Saturday 26 September. NSW Police said no incidents of note were reported during that operation.
Jet ski riders are being reminded they must hold the correct licence, wear an approved lifejacket and follow speed restrictions, exclusion zones and minimum-distance rules around people in the water. Irregular riding is prohibited within 200 metres of the shoreline and personal watercraft cannot be operated between sunset and sunrise.
Police are also reminding boat and jet ski operators that alcohol limits apply on the water and operators may be subject to random drug testing.
The operation comes as Bayside prepares for larger crowds around its beaches, parks and waterways during the warmer months. Residents can report dangerous or reckless behaviour to police, and should call Triple Zero in an emergency.
