Botany pump track final design opens for community feedback

Sir Joseph Banks Park plan includes beginner, intermediate and advanced riding zones

Bayside residents can now review the final design for what will become Council’s first dedicated pump track, planned for Sir Joseph Banks Park in Botany.

The design has moved beyond the early concept stage and includes four connected riding zones aimed at different skill levels. Community feedback remains open until 11 October 2026, before the project moves towards construction.

What is planned

The final design includes beginner, intermediate and advanced riding areas, with connected loops intended to let riders progress as their confidence and skills improve.

Supporting works include landscaping and seating, improved pathways and accessibility, a spectator area and spaces for people to gather around the facility. The track is intended for riders of different ages and abilities and forms part of the wider improvements at Sir Joseph Banks Park.

How the design was developed

Bayside Council began community engagement in 2025, including a youth-led process that asked young people and pump track users what they wanted from the facility. Council then awarded the design and construction contract to specialist trail company Common Ground Trails in March 2026.

The earlier concept included features such as rollers, berms, jumps, transfer options and skill-level areas. The final design has organised the facility around interconnected zones so beginners can learn separately while more experienced riders have access to more technical sections.

What happens next

Council’s project page lists the overall project period as March 2026 to April 2027. Earlier Council information anticipated construction beginning in December 2026 and completion by the end of April 2027.

Residents can view the final plans through Council’s Have Your Say page and provide feedback until 11 October. People who complete the survey can also enter a draw for a $500 bike shop voucher, subject to the competition terms.

The project remains in the detailed design and approvals phase, so residents should check Council’s project page for any changes to the construction timetable.
