The Beachside Dash returned to Dolls Point on Sunday 13 September with a major addition in 2026: the event’s first 21.1-kilometre half marathon.
The new certified course extended the community run beyond the traditional St George foreshore route, taking runners across Captain Cook Bridge into the Sutherland Shire before turning at Ocean Protect Stadium, also known as Shark Park.
Five events from 2km to a half marathon
The program included the new half marathon alongside the established 10km, 5km and 2km events and the Corporate Cup. The shorter races remained on the familiar foreshore course used in previous years.
Organisers describe the event as suitable for a broad range of abilities, with participants able to walk, jog or run. The races are professionally timed, with medals for participants and prizes for race winners.
Running for medical research
The 2026 Beachside Dash raised $120,000 for medical research at St George and Sutherland hospitals, according to the St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation.
About 1,800 people took part in the 19th annual event, which included the first Beachside Dash half marathon alongside the 10km, 5km, 2km and Corporate Cup events.
The result was a strong increase on the more than $80,000 raised in 2025. The money supports medical research connected with St George and Sutherland hospitals.
A bigger local course in 2026
Adding the half marathon substantially increased the reach of the event. Starting at Dolls Point, the 21.1km route linked the St George area with the Sutherland Shire and crossed one of the area’s best-known transport links at Captain Cook Bridge.
The 2026 event was held on 13 September. Future dates, course arrangements and fundraising information should be checked with Beachside Dash before planning for the next event.
