Bayside launches upgraded waste app with request tracking

Residents can check collection information, get recycling advice and track waste-service requests through Council’s updated app.

Bayside residents will be able to track waste-service requests and receive automatic progress updates through an upgraded Council app launching on Saturday 17 October 2026.

Bayside Council announced the updated Bayside Waste Services app and a new online self-service portal on Friday 16 October. Both are due to launch at the Project Planet sustainability event on 17 October.

The upgrade is designed to make it easier for residents to report a waste-service issue online, receive updates and follow the request through to completion, rather than having to make a separate enquiry to find out what has happened.

What the updated app offers

According to Council, the upgraded app retains the familiar waste-collection information and recycling advice while introducing a refreshed design and improved online requests.

Residents will be able to use the app to find collection information, get advice about recycling and lodge waste-service requests. The updated request system will provide automatic updates and a way to track the progress of a lodged request.

Council has not specified in its announcement whether every type of waste enquiry will support the same tracking functions, so residents should check the app or portal when it becomes available.

How residents can access it

People who already have Bayside Waste Services installed can update their existing app. New users can download it through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Council says the new self-service portal will also be launched with the upgraded app.

The app is a longstanding local service: Bayside Council first introduced it in 2017. Its original rollout received a Highly Commended recognition in the Sustainable Projects category of the 2018 Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Sustainable Cities Awards.

Why it matters locally

For households across Bayside, the most practical change is the ability to follow up on a waste request without starting over each time. Collection-day information and recycling guidance remain available in the same service.

The upgrade is being introduced at Project Planet on 17 October. Residents should refer to Council’s official announcement for the latest access instructions and availability.
