Older residents can get free help with everyday digital skills at Sans Souci Library during October, with four Friday classes covering email, video calls, online shopping and banking, and smartphones.
The Tech Savvy Seniors sessions run from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Sans Souci Library, 104 Russell Avenue. The classes are designed for English-speaking seniors who want to feel more confident using technology and the internet.
The first class, Introduction to Email, will be held on Friday 9 October. Introduction to Video Calling follows on 16 October, with Online Shopping and Banking on 23 October and Introduction to Smartphones on 30 October.
The classes are free, but places are limited and bookings are essential. Residents can choose the sessions most useful to them rather than committing to the whole series.
The program can help with common tasks that increasingly happen online, from keeping in touch with family and friends to using services and making purchases. The NSW Government says Tech Savvy Seniors training is offered at beginner through to advanced levels across participating libraries and community colleges.
Bayside Libraries also offer one-on-one Be Connected help for seniors who need beginner or intermediate support with computers, mobile devices and the internet. Those sessions can be booked through participating Bayside libraries.
Tech Savvy Seniors is delivered in partnership with the NSW Government and Telstra. The October English-language sessions at Sans Souci begin on Friday 9 October and continue each Friday until 30 October.
