Two more men charged over alleged armed container truck robbery in Botany

Police say five men allegedly stopped a container truck on Foreshore Road in July and held the driver at gunpoint before leaving empty-handed.

Two more men have been charged over an alleged armed robbery of a container truck on Foreshore Road in Botany, NSW Police said on Friday 25 September.

Police allege a truck carrying two shipping containers was blocked by a Toyota Hilux at about 9.45am on Thursday 2 July 2026.

Five men allegedly removed the driver from the truck, with one allegedly armed with a pistol. Police say the driver was held at gunpoint while other members of the group opened one of the containers.

The group allegedly left the scene empty-handed. The truck driver was not injured.

South Sydney Police Area Command and the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad began an investigation under Strike Force Zutav. Police say three people had already been charged and remain before the courts.

Detectives, assisted by Raptor Squad, executed search warrants at Bonnyrigg and Smithfield on Thursday 24 September. An 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were arrested and later charged with multiple offences, including robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon and participating in a criminal group.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Friday 25 September. The allegations have not been proven in court.

Police have asked anyone with information that may assist investigations into organised criminal activity to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
