Locals can pick up free pre-loved books from Bayside libraries until Monday 12 October, with no library membership needed to take part.
The books have been removed from the library collection but are still suitable to read and take home. Titles will vary between branches and are available only while stocks last.
The giveaway is running during the school holidays, giving families and other readers a chance to add to their bookshelves without spending anything.
Residents can visit a participating Bayside Library during normal opening hours and browse what is available. Anyone making a special trip should check their preferred branch’s current opening hours first.
The giveaway also gives usable books another life instead of discarding them when they leave the library collection.
The free book giveaway runs until Monday 12 October or until available stock is gone.
Because the giveaway is spread across the library network, the selection will not be identical at every location. Readers looking for particular types of books may need to browse more than one branch, and there is no guarantee a title seen earlier will still be available later.
There is nothing to return after taking a book. The giveaway is different from normal library borrowing because the selected books are being permanently removed from the collection and rehomed with local readers.
