EgyptAir plans to launch a new service connecting Cairo, Singapore and Sydney from 2027, adding a new African airline to Sydney Airport’s international network.
The proposed service remains subject to regulatory approval. Detailed schedules, aircraft type and ticket-sale dates have not yet been announced.
A new link between Sydney and Cairo
The service would connect Sydney and Cairo on the same EgyptAir route via Singapore. Sydney Airport says Egypt is currently its largest unserved African market for Australian travellers.
For passengers, the route would provide access to Cairo as well as onward connections through EgyptAir’s network across Egypt, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Links between NSW and Egypt
Sydney Airport says New South Wales is home to more than 21,000 people from the Egyptian community. The airport expects the proposed route to support travel for tourism, business, education and people visiting friends and relatives.
The addition would also take Sydney Airport’s network to a record 54 airlines, according to the airport’s announcement.
What still needs to happen
The route was announced as a plan rather than a completed launch. Regulatory approvals still need to be obtained, and EgyptAir has not yet released the timetable, aircraft details or date when tickets will go on sale.
That distinction matters for travellers planning ahead. Bayside News will update this story when firm operating details are released rather than treating the proposed schedule as confirmed.
